Who We Are

Established in 1996, the Wireless Innovation Forum™ comprises an international group of equipment vendors, subsystem vendors, software developers, technology developers, communication service providers, research and engineering organizations, academic institutions, government users, regulators and other interested parties who share the common business interests of advancing technologies supporting the innovative utilization of spectrum and the development of wireless communications systems, including essential or critical communications systems.

We develop the technical standards, testing protocols, and architectures that enable dynamic spectrum access and ensure the reliability of essential and mission-critical communications through software architectures that protect and advance commercial, defense, public safety, and critical infrastructure networks worldwide.

Together, we share a common business interest: advancing technologies that support the innovative utilization of spectrum and the development of highly reliable wireless communications systems.

Serving as an industry body to study, specify, and advance sharing arrangements and Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) for unlicensed operation in the 6 GHz band.

CBRS

Supporting the development and advancement of spectrum sharing technologies based on the three-tier architecture for the 3.5 GHz band and beyond.

SDS

Overseeing the evolution of the Software Communications Architecture (SCA), harmonizing international transceiver standards, and defining APIs, and test procedures.

Innovation

Advancing wireless innovation in highly dynamic spectrum sharing, artificial intelligence, UAS/Drones, and emerging mmWave bands.
