Dr. Seungwon Choi – ITU Region 3 Rep

Dr. Seungwon Choi (M’91) received the B.S. degree in electronics engineering from Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea, in 1980, the M.S. degree in electronics engineering from Seoul National University in 1982, and the M.S. degree in computer engineering and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, in 1985 and 1988, respectively. From 1988 to 1989, he was an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Syracuse University. In 1989, he was with the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, Daejeon, Korea.

From 1990 to 1992, he was a Science and Technology Agency Fellow with the Communications Research Laboratory, Tokyo, Japan, developing the adaptive antenna-array systems and adaptive equalizing filters. He joined Hanyang University as an Assistant Professor in 1992, where he is currently a Professor with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Since 2003, he has been the Vice Chair for Software-Defined Radio Forum. His research interests include digital communications and adaptive signal processing, with a recent focus on the implementation of the smart-antenna systems for both mobile communication and wireless data systems. Dr. Choi has published more than 150 technical papers including about 50 SCI-level journal papers and held about 32 registered and 46 in-pending patents in the areas of smart antenna, adaptive filtering, and other technologies for wide band data transmission. Dr. Choi is a member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers), IEEK (Institute of Electronics Engineering Korea), and KICS (Korea Information and Communications Society), and KEES (Korea Electromagnetic Engineering Society).
