Dr. David Murotake – Member at Large

Dr. Murotake brings 35 years of military, defense and commercial experience as a U.S. military officer, electrical engineer, computer engineer, advanced development manager, and business development manager working with the US Army, RCA, GE, Lockheed, and Mercury Computer Systems. Founder of SCA Technica, Inc. in 2002, Dr. Murotake joined the SDR Forum in 1994, and has served as past Vice Chair of the Technical Committee and immediate past Chair of the Markets Committee. He is also a past chair of the Base Station and Smart Antenna Working Groups, and currently chairs the R&D Working Group. Awarded the SDR Forum’s 2006 Contributor Award, Dr. Murotake received his BS and MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and a BS in Humanities and Science from MIT. He also did postgraduate work at the University of Southern California, and received his Ph.D. in Management of Technological Innovation from the MIT Sloan School.

Having lived for five years in Europe as an Army officer with NATO liaison duties, Dr. Murotake is widely travelled and enjoys working with all nationalities. Since founding his U.S. Veteran-owned, 8(A), minority-owned Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) in 2002, he has won several Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I and Phase II contracts in the fields of high assurance software radio, smart radio and mobile ad-hoc networks. As an entrepreneur and small business owner, with five years experience as an Officer of the SDR Forum, and four years as a SDR Forum Director, Dr. Murotake is well suited to understand the needs of small companies in the SDR and cognitive radio fields. He will work hard to make the SDR Forum more small-company friendly.
